Theatre for Our Community

A Note in Regard to COVID-19

Like everyone else, we at Markham Little Theatre have been paying close attention to the news about COVID-19 since early 2020.

As we prepare to welcome our patrons and friends into Backstage for the first time in over two years, we should be clear about our policies related to COVID-19.

The safety, comfort, and peace of mind of our patrons, volunteers, and all who come to Backstage is of paramount importance to us. As such, the Board of Markham Little Theatre has adopted the following policies and guidelines for our Backstage building:

  • We ask that anyone who is currently testing positive for COVID-19, or who has any symptoms of illness, to not visit Backstage.  MLT will offer refunds or ticket substitutions (if available) to any patron who is unable to attend a performance as a result of COVID-19 related illness or symptoms.
  • During performances, and at all times when the building is open to the public, every person, except for those under the age of 5, must wear an appropriate mask, covering their nose and mouth, when inside the building.
  • Performers are exempt from the masking requirement while performing or rehearsing, provided that they do not currently have any symptoms of illness, and that the established testing protocols have been followed.
  • At other times when the building is not open to the public, such as during rehearsals or technical work, masking is optional, provided that appropriate physical distancing can be maintained, and that all people in the area are symptom free and have followed the established testing protocols.
  • We strongly encourage all patrons, visitors, cast and crew to ensure that they are vaccinated against COVID-19. We will not currently ask for any proof of vaccination.
  • Markham Little Theatre will follow, and expects everyone who enters Backstage to also follow, all relevant laws and regulations, as and when they are in effect.

We are delighted to be making theatre again, and are excited for you to join us in the audience or as a volunteer. We thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.
