2026/2027 Season

Three Productions.

One BIG Transformation!

MLT is making changes! After sixty award-winning years of theatre, we have decided to update our logo and upgrade our Backstage performance space on the grounds of the Markham Museum.

For our 2026 / 2027 season, we’ve made the challenging decision to present three productions instead of our usual four. This change allows us to focus our energy on creating an even better experience for both our performers and our audiences, while ensuring that our restructured space supports the creativity and collaboration that bring our shows to life. We’re incredibly proud of the three plays we’ve selected—they’re bold, engaging, and full of heart—and we can’t wait to share them with you. It’s going to be a fantastic season, and we’re so excited to have you along for the journey!

Present Laughter (Noël Coward)

Join flamboyant actor Garry Essendine as he fends off friends and admirers while preparing for an overseas tour. Laughter and egos clash in this fast-paced farce about fame and the absurdity of theatrical life. Filled with wit and chaos, Present Laughter is a delightful show that celebrates drama both on and off the stage.

Willow Quartet (Joan Burrows)

The end of Kim’s marriage finds her moving back to her childhood home. When she invites a visiting musician to rent a room from her, it’s not long before his charm allows her to leave her loneliness and heartbreak behind. Willow Quartet is a heartwarming tale of choices, consequences, and forgiveness.

Silent Sky (Lauren Gunderson)

Astronomer Henrietta Leavitt’s discoveries transformed our understanding of the universe. Inspired by true events, this beautifully written play explores ambition, love, and the struggle for recognition. Both intimate and expansive, Silent Sky is a tribute to curiosity, perseverance, and the people who mapped the stars.
